“We are removing the National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland, despite the fact that CRIME has been greatly reduced by having these great Patriots in those cities, and ONLY by that fact,”
A) They were never deployed in the first place and 2) They weren’t allowed to do law enforcement at all.

CNN is not a broadcast network.
“A deadly fungus”. . .
“resistance to all types of antibiotics”. . .
😞
Look, I don’t expect a journalist to know these things, but I do expect an EDITOR to at least go through a basic fact check before the first sentence is completed.

“Giovanni Rosales Espinoza”
Cue Trump complaining about immigrants in 3-2-1…

How about soda drinkers?
Are they communists because they are red or because they have seized the means of production? 🤔

So manufacturers can bill you monthly for the same features…

“But on the flip side, my family and friends will see a scary looking command and immediately be put off.”
More to that… these are exactly the people we have all been telling “If you see someone on the internet telling you ‘type this!’ DON’T DO IT!”
ALT-F4 being the benign one.
rm -rf / --no-preserve-root - not so benign.
I remember a story of someone getting the recursive tag wrong on the chmod command and managed to chmod 000 themselves out of everything on the system… including chmod.

For years and years the barrier to entry was mom or gramma buying a clipart CD for $4.99 at the grocery store, bringing it home, and expecting it to work.
Now that’s not a thing anymore, but they still aren’t using it. So I guess the barrier to entry now is they see that ad for the casino app that “pays you real money” and they expect to download it and expect it to work.
Until mom and grandmom can load up the computer with all sorts of malware that breaks everything, they really aren’t interested.

Dude had no criminal record so nothing preventing him from owning a gun, BUT… as a coke head, if he was using at the time he bought the gun, he would have had to have lied when filling out the purchase form and that would have been a blocker.
Florida does have a red flag law that could have been used to seize his gun(s).
https://www.fighterlaw.com/how-do-floridas-red-flag-gun-laws-work/
“In 2019, National Public Radio reported that Florida courts had approved 2,500 risk protection orders to confiscate firearms over a period of 1.5 years. That equals out to nearly five people per day that had their firearms seized due to red flag laws–more than any of the other 17 states that have adopted a similar regulation.”
Freestyle Libre was my first CGM and as soon as I had the opportunity to switch to Dexcom, I did.
Each new sensor was wildly low or wildly high, with no option to calibrate. It was really only good for measuring changes, not the actual glucose reading itself.
So "Oh, it’s going up, +5, +10, +20… probably accurate, but is it 80, 180, or 240? Use a finger stick to know for sure.

I know, right? 😂

When I met my now wife’s 13 year old, his first question was “So I’m building a Linux machine, which file system should I use?”
We had a good discussion about the pros and cons of the different file systems.
He’s gone on in the AI space, speaking at conferences and delivering papers and such.
What about the voltages and the hz?
Chuck Grassley is 92 years old.
He was college age from 1951-ish to 1954-ish.
Gas prices were $0.27 to $0.29 a gallon back then.
https://www.energy.gov/eere/vehicles/fact-741-august-20-2012-historical-gasoline-prices-1929-2011
Adjusted for inflation, that’s $3.37 to $3.49 today…
https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/
Buuuuut… Another way of looking at it…
The minimum wage in the early 1950s was $0.75/hr.
https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/minimum-wage/history/chart
So a gallon of gas was between 36% and 39% of an hours worth of minimum wage work.
The current minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. A gallon of gas at the current average of $2.847 is 39% of an hours worth of minimum wage work.

Hey now, I banked $30K in cash and bought a house, all I had to do was have a heart attack, open heart surgery, and move to 100% work from home. 😉
3 years after I stopped driving to the office, paying $21 a day to park, and eating out all the damn time… boom! $30K in the bank!

“she was held in ICE custody after failing to prove citizenship”
It’s not on the accused to prove innocence, it’s on DHS to prove guilt and “I said so” is not proof.

Justice department is saying it’s fake, but then… it IS Pam Bondi’s justice department soooo…
Wait, the CDC still collects data? Somebody ought to do something about that!
