    I wonder if they tried the “death with dignity” route (it is available in California.) Maybe they did and were told that she didn’t qualify.

      It’s also sadly possible that after 90 years, they were unaware of that option. It’s relatively new in their lifespan.

      I can’t speak for California, but in Oregon you have to be terminally ill and a doctor has to sign off that you have 6 months or less left to live.

      From the article, yeah, it sounds like she was in poor health, but not necessarily terminally ill.
