Haskell trans girls and rust femboys must unite against our common enemy, testosterone.
You don’t need to learn Rust to be a femboy Linux twink.
I, for one, do not have any programming skills whatsoever.
To be honest I might opt for Go instead; I find Rust’s syntax too noisy and hard to read.
Go is neat but i like it when my programs work
It definitely depends on what you want to do. For systems programming, HPC, embedded etc, Go is not an alternative to Rust. For webdev, I do get it, Go is much simpler.
Ken Thompson and Rob Pike. I trust their design decisions.
The Syntax do be Lknda tricky, but its a great language with lots of great high level functionality. I can not really say anything about Go, since I never used or even read it.
Doesn’t Go belong to google?
Also, why do you want to learn programming? (It is nice and fun to code, but the choice of a language may depend on your aim too)
It doesn’t “belong” to Google, but they are a major contributor.
I know why I want to program, and Go has everything I need to do that, and I also just quite like the language anyway.
Don’t get me wrong but pay attention to the android os stuff and ask yourself if it is applicable. Idk. I just wish you the best.
Yeah, I know, I don’t trust Google as much as the next person; but I just don’t think they can really do what they’re doing with the AOSP to Go, I mean, Go is fully open-source, and doesn’t depend on Google for anything really.
If Google did try to pull something with Go, the language would just be forked. But I frankly don’t see what Google would get out of restricting Go. For a mobile operating system, it makes very good business sense, they can direct more users to their own app store to show them ads and get more revenue, but a programming language is a tool, not a commercial product (at least nowadways).
If ever google does it so you have to fork it, please call the new language No.
Good, you have thought about it. I hope you are right! Take care!
Being hard to read is what produces the juice! Don’t shortchange the juice and end up a bro!
rust is good but this is the exact 180 degree opposite of why

Bless geeky femboys, you’re all amazing.
Based post. I learned Rust because “Rustacean” is a funny word.
The good old bait and switch

As a C/C++ person I guess i’d be the Crustacean then.
Carcinization strikes again…
Now I understand why find rust challenging to write, its because I have no femboy twink energy 😅
have you tried programming socks?
Ahhh, that what I was missing! wonder if my job would agree to give a corporate rebate since I know its necessary for my productivity
Nah. Rust is challenging to write because Rust is challenging to learn. There are a lot of concepts that exist in few if any other programming languages that you have to get your head around before you can write really any nontrivial Rust code.
When I started learning Lua, I already knew Python and Java. It took me about a week to pick it up before I was writing proper coroutines. When I started learning Rust, I really struggled, for over a month – Rust is a lot – but then everything just kinda clicked, and I got it, and suddenly the borrow checker was a wind at my back instead of something I would do daily battle with.
I am a twink, but I think that is entirely orthogonal to me being good at Rust. Anyone can pick it up. You just have to be very patient and very eager to learn.
Yeah I am primarly from c++/c#/ruby (rip) background and im currently trying to make a small game in rust bit I am having hard time with it, especially the syntax. I always felt I somewhat understood the whole ptr/ref/async and immutability until i touched rust.
I have used many languages in my experience but never did i encounter a language I find hard to remember basic stuff. I guess I just need to take some time to really learn it.
And yeah I am not abandoning, I do see the advantages and it does skip many (albeit c++ specific) headaches.
Also keep twink-ing, I heard its a gift for rust 🤣
Is there any benefits to adding linux to a femboy twink?
Yes, it makes your femboy twink run better, use less resources, and gives you more control over them. You can swap out different parts of them, play around, see what happens. You’re no longer beholden to what Femboy Inc. says you can do with your femboy.
Do you want ads on your femboy twink? Didn’t think so.
You can leave them alone and when you come back, they have made a oddly specific tool. If they like you, it might be the oddly specific tool that you needed.
Better performance
Unless you wear an animal tail buttplug while coding it’s just sparkling C++.

very true for cs in general :3
i wish Rust wasn’t tainted by ai :/
Rust written by AI is funny.
-
Ask Claude to write something in rust, hoping for memory safe code
-
Complain that some parts are slow
-
Look inside and see a ton of uncontained unsafe code
I’m not sure they’re even looking inside anymore, just asking Claude what’s wrong.
-
I absolutely hate how LLMs love Rust. Though it goes from its very design of ensuring safety at compile time, but at least System76, one of the most prominent adopters of Rust in Linux communities, didn’t join the dark side.
Calling rust tainted… Encryption isn’t tainted because pedos use it. Rust isnt tainted because AI bros use it.
You misunderstand me. Rust is tAInted. “AI” is used in its development.
Ah, a purist. Is any project pure enough for to use? Is a single commit enough to be “tainted”?
I say “yes”, with one exception: if they remove the offending code, the project (as a whole) is no longer tAInted.
And yeah; there are pure projects. NetBSD’s kernel is currently untAInted, but some things in the project (like GCC) are.
I find that to be a impossible standard to put on projects, and creates a community of distrust and accusations.
I found the discussion of Bevy’s AI policy to be quite nuanced and fair.
I hope you find projects that fit your requirements.
The thing is, all of these old and respected projects existed before LLMs. It’s pretty easy to just… ban LLM usage on a project.
Sadly - so is Linux.
Yes; I was absolutely crestfallen when I caught wind of it being tAInted.
I’m currently investigating alternatives. Redox is anti-AI, but written in Rust. Haiku isn’t really suitable for most folks as a daily driver. ReactOS is basically a toy, and is tAInted anyways.
Of the BSDs, FreeBSD and OpenBSD are both tAInted; Hyperbola is still using Linux-Libre; NetBSD itself is untAInted, but uses GCC (if I recall correctly), and one of its forks, MirBSD, is in the same boat.
If I can build NetBSD using an alternative compiler toolchain, then that would be an excellent starting point for a new OS.
Porque no los dos?
Geeky femboys 🥺👉👈
Hello. 🩵
😳 Hiii
:3
Wishing to be femboy twink Linux but all I know is C and C++ 💔
Same 😓
So, what shall we do?!
Zig is a pretty easy adoption if you’re good with C, it’s another (imo, better) memory-safe “modernisation” like Rust is. It’s not as mature as Rust yet, but it has C interop, and the Zig compiler is also a drop-in replacement for existing C code. Very nice language I must say.
Also you get to call yourself a Ziguana, which is on par with Rustacean in terms of demonym coolness
We are
Learning rust to meet femboi Linux twinks so I can get them to fix my pc.
