  • I think just a lot of people like me who had heard of the person but had no awareness of her issues. She was a famous actress in the 1950s-1960s which was way before most of us were around, or at least paying attention. After that, she may have made some noise in France but I don’t remember much of it reaching here. I probably would have mentioned it if I knew about or remembered it.

Anyway, the point of being a sex bomb is that nobody dares disagree with you about anything since it would ruin their chance of getting a date (not that any of us had a chance anyway, even if we were around back then). So you can be as evil as you want and still get unlimited attention and deference. It must be nice. We see that with some show biz types in the present day too, and similarly with some ultra rich dudes.

  • Oh hmm, I just use my phone for that. It doesn’t seem worth having an additional, limited purpose device. I assume a 7" e-reader is too big for a pocket.

The Inkplate 10 isn’t pocketable but it’s very light, easy to put in your backpack or whatever. I just wish they had a 13" version. The 13" Ipad Air is really very nice if you don’t mind Apple products.

There are also some folding phones now with largish screens. A buddy of mine has one and it’s nice. Too expensive for me though, and it’s more Android.

  • pair of 648×480 e-paper displays

Um lol no. I could see using a pair of Inkplate 10’s connected by (at least metaphorical)) duct tape. Doesn’t seem worth mucking with special hardware.

Every affordable e-reader I know of is simply too small though. I mostly want to read stuff like ArXiV preprints (A4 sized pdf’s) so would want at least a 13" screen. Someone a few days ago posted a link to a 14" Android tablet with a semi-reflective display at around $300. It seemed interesting but I’d rather degoogle.

There are some hinged Waveshare displays that look nice but they are regular TFT displays so wouldn’t be great for a portable e-reader with long battery time:

  • I was sort of interested in a Kei electric minivan for a while. The size is fine, they are cheap, and if you don’t drive much they need no fuel or electricity. You can put enough solar panels on the roof that the van self-recharges in the parking lot enough for a few local grocery runs per week or that sort of thing. Top speed is just 40mph though. It would be great as a 2nd car but with just one, I needed something freeway capable.
