It’s all subjective and based on your personal level of interest. From a technical standpoint the time needed is based on how fast your computer can compile everything, how fast you read and understand the instructions, and how much effort you want to put into it.

So yeah, a weekend could be reasonable.

Or they’re bored. I’ve done Linux From Scratch before. It’s fun. It’ll teach you a lot about building and maintaining a distro.

Do it. Take a weekend, and indulge yourself.

Tell you what, go into your mail client and view the original source of any email with inline images. In Gmail it’s called “View Original”. Not sure about other mail clients, but if in doubt you could export it to a file and open that file in your favorite text editor.

Let me know what you find.

Edit: also do it for an email with what you consider to have an attachment. Doesn’t matter what kind; any attachment will suffice for this experiment.

Hear me out: I don’t blame landlords for wanting to protect their investments. But, I do have a problem with them (and guys like James here) who do it at the expense of the downtrodden. Being a landlord should not have to be mutually exclusive with helping people.
