Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.

Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.

Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

  • Were it not for Peregrine Took, the helmet would not have fallen into the hole.

Had the helmet not fallen, the Horde would not have been alerted

Had the Horde not been alerted, they would not have disturbed the Balrog

Had the Balrog not been disturbed, Gandalf would not have fought it, died, and then been sent back as Gandalf the White.

Without Gandalf the White, many things would not have been accomplished.

This same “fool of a Took” managed to psych sauron out and pulled the feint of all feints by making sauron think he had the ring, in an enemy held city no less, and not some short weirdo crawling over the back wall of mordor.

    Pippin saved Middle Earth.

  • Okay look, when my current drive fails I’m never EVER reinstalling Microsoft, cand I’m not getting another Microsoft computer. Macos was never even an option…

So One Day™ I will chomp down hard on that cracker…

I even broke out my old laptops to see if I could salvage an hdd to give current laptop (with space for an extra hard drive) a separate (if smaller) Linux drive.

Sadly all 3 were unusable, they literally freeze everything that tries to access them…

But I pinky swear I’ll be making the swap Soon™

  • I have a 150lb great Pyrenees, and I have a bag that just happens to be the perfect size to cut holes in the corners for his legs, and his body fits snuggly inside. A bit like the floof on the right, but when he’s sitting down his head comes up to my stomach. He can stretch out to almost 7.5ft

I kind of want to try it out, him standing beside me while I hold the bag handles…

He’s in a bag, it’s what you wanted

  • It’s just as sexist as telling a woman the most important part about her is her weight, her dress size, and her bust/waist/hip measurements, but you’re supposed to be okay with it because checks notes “a lot of men are also sexist”

It’s a good policy, “oh you’re being sexist and gross? Kbaiiiiiii” regardless of genders.

  • A couple flock cameras near my town keep getting taken out and put back up.

The latest blurry security camera footage to catch the culprit has led to sweet FA since they ride a nondescript dark color mountain bike, wear all black clothing without logos or text, and seem to avoid riding their bike unmasked near businesses with cameras and houses that might have door cameras.

I don’t even think they know gender/skin/hair color. Anything other than “average human height” really.

Anyway, shout out to everyone who destroys one of these things. It’s illegal, but it’s the morally correct thing to do.

I once had a long-time friend (through her shirt/sleeve holes) take her bra off and throw it at me and then sit on my lap at a party once.

It was another 3 years before I found out she had a huge crush on me and was hoping I would do literally anything other than sit there awkwardly

  • Ah yes, the super duper high honor of checks text “still being banished from Minas tirith, his home for way longer than aragorn had ever been there”

“And the King said to Beregond: ‘Beregond, by your sword blood was spilled in the Hallows, where that is forbidden. Also you left your post without leave of Lord or of Captain. For these things, of old, death was the penalty. Now therefore I must pronounce your doom. ‘All penalty is remitted for your valour in battle, and still more because all that you did was for the love of the Lord Faramir. Nonetheless you must leave the Guard of the Citadel, and you must go forth from the City of Minas Tirith.’ Then the blood left Beregond’s face, and he was stricken to the heart and bowed his head. But the King said: ‘So it must be, for you are appointed to the White Company, the Guard of Faramir, Prince of Ithilien, and you shall be its captain and dwell in Emyn Arnen in honour and peace, and in the service of him for whom you risked all, to save him from death.’ And then Beregond, perceiving the mercy and justice”

The “mercy and justice” for saving someone’s life from men who were “just following orders” was “oh the law says you should be dead but since I’m king and can say no to that I’m banishing you instead” isn’t exactly an “honor”, especially if you disagree with the very concept of monarchies in the first place.

  • He started his reign by banishing the person responsible for saving Faramir and thus securing his own ascendancy to the throne.

    Source?

Beregond, of the citadel guard, prevented Faramir from being killed by Denethor by keeping other guards from entering and fulfilling Denethor’s crazed wish of death with the only mostly-dead Faramir.

From the LOTR Fandom page: “After the War of the Ring, Beregond was brought before the newly crowned King Elessar to answer for the abandonment of his post, as well as the murders of those who stood in his way as he raced to rescue Faramir. Recognizing that what he did was out of love for his lord, he did not impose the death penalty upon him; the newly-crowned king’s largesse allowed for Beregond to simply be banished from Minas Tirith”

Page 969 in my copy of the book.

  • I don’t deny aragorn has style. While he gracefully dances over it, the bar is pretty low here. Denethor was a lesser sire of greater men.

The man sent some of the city’s only defenders into a battle he knew was unwinnable because he was throwing a temper tantrum.

Whether either of them is fit for leadership or has the rizz to do so, I say Down with all monarchies, embrace anarcho-syndicalist communes.

  • On the one hand, they shouldn’t be beholden to some “royal” douche somewhere simply because he’s the king. “divine right” my ass.

On the other hand, don’t make a promise 8d if you can’t or won’t keep it.

On the third mutated hand, how much of them swearing an oath was due to societal brainwashing making them feel like they had to?

Aragorn can be a “good king” all he wants but as far as I’m concerned he’s still just as bad as any other. He started his reign by banishing the person responsible for saving Faramir and thus securing his own ascendancy to the throne. Without a steward to hand over the proverbial keys, all we have is a sword some elves who raised this guy says is made of bits of some important historical sword, and an old dude with a walking stick who used to wear Grey but now decided white is more his style.

I mean, if I went around saying I was an emperor just because some crotchety hermit had lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away!
