I think technical people should have to socialize supervised until they pass some sort of decency exam.

21·1 month agoIts like manufacturers thought, “let’s take these incredibly dangerous machines and make them less reliable.”
I honestly dont get it.
I’m sure all those single maintainers aren’t complaining about all their unpaid work. Not sure where that opinion even comes from, but you sure seem ready to defend it.
If you think its okay for maintainers to complain about unpaid work, then we just disagree. If your point is that most of them don’t do that, then good, that’s fantastic.
I think the way you frame it is absurd. They aren’t making things for themselves. If they were they wouldnt share it, or if they did they at least wouldnt maintain it or claim ownership over it. If devs open the door to allow outside help in, they really can’t act like they are victims when they have to socialize with other people.
The fact that you focus on compensation really shows what’s important to you anyways, and betrays the whole spirit of FOSS in my opinion.

61·1 month agoHow does it make it useless? If people find use in the term and its usage, by definition its useful. It doesn’t need to make sense to 100% of people either.
This is a perfect game to bring about discussion in where the line is between an ethically created video game vs one that’s not ethically created. This isn’t just an AI thing either, people have boycotted studios over other types of poor treatment of their employees too.
People don’t want art that comes from coercion or abused artists.

2·1 month agoNot to be so obtuse and confrontational, lest you miss an opportunity to learn from another person. I’m sure by now you live a mostly lonely life though, so what’s the point?
Being bristly over the internet has pretty much zero risk compared to real life though so might as well dig into the hostility, right?

10·1 month agoNo the game itself included it. It was also used in the development of the game. The studio told the award show organization they didn’t do either of those things. When it was found out that they did, they had to forfeit their awards. The game isn’t any worse though, still worth playing.
Edit to add: I think the misunderstanding here is that I think the value of the video game awards are zero, so in my eyes clair obscur gained and then lost nothing.
I’m not opposed to handling bad reports in a cheeky manner, just the part that comes up constantly about them working for free. Its always used as an excuse, when I’d rather people just admit its more fun to take the piss out of someone sometimes and maybe everyone should lighten up a bit.
Again, I’m not sure its even devs themselves making the “work for free” argument themselves, as the FOSS community has many advocates who aren’t devs.
