AI crawlers are scraping every site. Every site. Random public-but-unlisted hobby sites are getting scraped and spiking users’ data. There was a Lemmy post about someone who had that experience just yesterday.

Think of how much Child Porn is stored on public sites that are shared in private groups. Also consider that FaceBook is the largest distributor of Child Sex Abuse material. These models are absolutely trained on Child Porn.

The last 3 years of “White Supremacy” has me questioning the narrative on White Competency.

Don’t feel too bad for me haha. I was 100% bought into Kamala Harris’ campaign and the 2024 blue wave; 100% ignorant about the reality of racism and criminality and brutality of this nation. It’s only this last year I’ve come to my senses about the reality of the USA.

The intensity of the Epstein scandal can. not. be overstated. It’s the world most prolific child sex trafficking ring, occupied by top figures across Western nations. USA. Canada. UK. Top celebrities. Top oligarchs. Top politicians. Trump’s connections were known. A story on Prince Andrew’s involvement was suppressed by the ABC news. And… USAmericans just ignore it… All of it. Well, Trump’s opponents cling to it, of course; but it wasn’t enough to stop Trump’s victories in 2016 and 2024, and again, Biden barrrely won in 2020 with an active pandemic brought about by Trump’s incompetency.

Nixon’s Watergate cover-up wasn’t enough. W. Bush’s lies that killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of USA soldiers wasn’t enough. Nothing ever sticks to the people actually in power. Politicians are getting in squabbles while Silicon Valley and big finance are just cruiiiisin’ right along. It’s insanity, and yet the people bend to it.

I really believe we missed our chance to “act now”. I watched it trickle out of our hands in the first months of this administration. Big tech got the spynet cameras and AI networks set up; MAGA got its ICE secret police; The financial stresses got worse; And most damning: people are burnt out.

The ICE kidnappings weren’t enough. That was the base threshold in my mind. If masked agents grabbing people from your neighborhood isn’t enough to get people rioting, then nothing will. As it stands people are “fighting back” in some areas but that mainly amounts to taking to the streets and herding the agents away… then going back to whatever they were doing before.

People older than me would have said prosecuting/rioting against George W. Bush was the last chance off. Folks older than them would point to Nixon. Folks older than that may point to how we let the Confederate insurrectionist states off wayyy too lightly after the war.

Nothing’s going to be “enough” because USAmericans don’t have the energy in them to fight back. Nothing will make them say “enough” because there is no bite to give. The oligarchs know this. The main politicians who aren’t shunned from all the in-groups (so not the progressives or Q folks) – they all know this.

We are sick and terrified, bound to our lives through a mix of tragic optimism and fear of losing what little we have. The once-middle class cling to their ever-harder lives because they’re afraid of drowning in debt; The poor tread water through debt because they’re afraid of homelessness; The homeless persevere for fear of jail and death and being disappeared to camps.

We’re being played. Every day we push forward to be herded like cattle – worse than cattle, because the system doesn’t care about our health. We keep holding steady pushing through it all and trying to cling to hope of a better future that is clearly never coming. Every two years those on the left been promised a “blue wave” while Dems won’t even stop us getting prosecuted for Marijuana; and those on the right are promised a resurgence to some Great America that only ever existed for most straight white men, and which was created through the suppression of the same businesses that are selling them this lie.

This is all Gloom and Doom because I don’t see a way out of this. They’ve got us in a bind that I don’t think we can escape, even with the full cooperation of all the working class (which itself is just inconceivable). There’s some fundamental weakness of human nature and strength in our systems that got us here, and keep us here.

I also don’t watch TV or movies – only Twitch streams. I’ve been this way even when not beaten down by capitalism and fascism though. Even when I’m taking a break from working on creative projects, it’s still nice to be able to turn my brain off and get the experience of seeing the game. Maybe my unmedicated ADHD makes me that way.

This guy managed to make the laziest brand of content I have ever even heard suggested as an idea: An AI avatar reading an AI reaction to an AI-generated image. And I thought reaction videos were bad…

I was laughing along until you said “watching a stream (even without commentary)”. Yeah I’ve done that one. Sometimes I want to see what’s next in the game without spending 100 hours to get there ><. Also watching lets me mentally unwind, playing takes a mental toll.

None if you don’t get caught. They’re not going to do a full investigation if you don’t try to murder the guy. Also, look how badly the current FBI fumbled the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s killer? into Brian Thompson’s killer?

The top protest image looks fake. I’ve seen too many AI images with signs that read like that one. The protest sign with that perspective just looks AI. I hope and believe the protests happen. The image just looks odd.

Sorry, I don’t mean to be contrarian here; but “Try Japanese Hotel In Pearl Harbor?” looks exactly like the kind of convoluted language you’d see in some FaceBook post begging for likes for an AI disabled veteran or homeless single mother.

Edit: I was clearly wrong here. I saw the lettering and the spacing and phrasing and got fixated on a bunch of actually AI signs I had seen a few days prior. I didn’t fully think this comment through. I apologize for my comment.

Still, should there be a future Democrat administration; there is room to make positive change that the general population would feel.

Schedule III is still not legal. Testosterone is Schedule III and you can be arrested for possession. It would just mean state-level laws will actually be legal in the way they say they are; and possession should be punished less than, say, possession of fentanyl or heroin.

If Democrats take power, they could pass full legalization of Marijuana or other drugs. Alternatively Democrats currently in Congress could introduce a bill now to decriminalize/legalize Marijuana at the federal level. Sure, Republicans would have controlled the House and Senate, but the incumbent could report to their own district that they got a win.

I’ve seen a handful of stories about Apple and Google locking people out of their entire digital lives. I think the reason people seem not to care is that most people don’t have the mental bandwidth to go against the grain and move their entire lives off of Apple and Google services, especially when they bought into these devices with the hope of making their lives easier.

Truly, most people don’t realize how dependent they are on megacorps. I’ve been finding that out repeatedly over the last year. I thought I was good because I don’t pay for streaming services, buy video games, or order Amazon delivery… then I took inventory and realized how much I actually relied on YouTube, Twitch, Google Drive, and GitHub.

Even if we could “vote out” MAGA, if our response is as passive and non-disruptive as we have been, we’ve effectively legitimized big business’ strategy here. The oligarchs don’t care who is in power. If they can get massive tax cuts from one Nazi term every 16 years, they will back those Nazis once every 16 years – If the people rioted and destroyed their businesses during Nazi/gilded regimes, the big business CEOs would rethink that strategy.

The point of an uprising now isn’t just about stopping the current fascists – it’s about sending a clear message that the USAmerican people will not tolerate fascism. In business terms: Fascism is not profitable, regardless of what financial policy is on the table. This was the unspoken societal assumption throughout our nation’s history, but bit by bit the line has been tested, and the bar has been lowered.

The War on Drugs’ intrusions in our personal lives; The War on Crime’s mass imprisonment of US residents; The economic pressures of Trickle-down policy; The War on Terror’s normalization of mass-surveillance; ICE detentions, assaults, and human trafficking – Each step is built upon the last. Each step begets the next intrusion of our quality of life.

When we go on working and consuming, keeping this system running; we normalize all the injustices that have occurred up to this point. Year by year, we give all politicians, oligarchs, and corporations less of a reason to fear us. Every time we boast about non-violence, we further push the narrative that the people will take whatever you give them.

We deserve the treatment we allow.
