      I would consider it a win, but I worry people after the snow storm are gonna be like “be free, kitty!” and not understand why it’s living in their backyard for the rest of it’s life.

        I think all kitties should be adored indoor kitties, but a backyard kitty is better than a completely feral cat and a lonely uncatted person. For instance they’ll probably do the storm refuge thing again, and feed it so it will kill fewer birds, and they’ll enjoy time together even if it’s not pettable.

          I agree with your sentiment, but I do question whether being fed will reliability decrease the amount of kills a cat makes. I was under the impression that they might not eat their kills if they are fed, but they will still kill.
