This sounds like something Brandon Sanderson would dream up for his fantasy world building and I’m all about it.

This more reminds me of the hydrophobic wizards that were used to fly a on a spinning disc in Terry Pratchett’s The Colour Magic. The wizards hated water so much that it would physically repel them.

They did keep the doctors away. He said he didn’t need them due to his high powered apple based diet. Then he died, no doctors needed anyway! I don’t think it was a solid plan in retrospect, but from the purely keeping doctors away part, it worked.

Would the doctors be pushed away at the pace you move toward them, or do they immediately move to a set distance when they become aware of your presence? Are they immune if their eyes are closed? Do they need to know you’ve eaten apples? Is every interaction a risk for them as an apple-eater might reveal themselves? What happens to a doctor if the are enclosed in an ever-tightening sphere of fruitenarians?

I knew how American houses are constructed, but I never stopped and thought about that their hospital might be made the same way. Scary.
