No, you misunderstand what I was trying to say, so I probably didn’t communicate it well. You cannot use any of them, open source or not, without allowing the Google Play Services some rather invasive permissions. That’s the Google I was referring to.
You can, but it’s a Google filled minefield. A good view of it is reading into all of the trouble of using Android Auto in GrapheneOS without destroying all the privacy protections. It’s essentially impossible to get navigation going without doing so, but audio for music and phone calls can be done with some hoop jumping. You’re still probably better off just using bluetooth though.

I had this sort of thing happen all the time at my last job. Eventually everyone just accepted that I was the one to ask. Then it backfired and they started assuming that i was the one to ask about everything. Then it double backfired and they started inviting me to meetings as a SME (subject matter expert)… about basically everything whether I knew much about them or not.
Another fun comment, movie theaters used to have absolutely gigantic portions (yes, even bigger than now). Cobb Theaters had a soda called “The Cobbster” which was 80oz. It was basically a popcorn bucket full of soda with a straw. And it came with free refills, it was the only size to do so. I imagine that was because only a maniac would actually come back for a refill. I did it once to “get my value”, but I couldn’t actually drink any more.
When I was a teen we’d often get a “cube” (24 pack of 12oz cans) of Mountain Dew and drink it in a night. It seems horrific to me now.
Cows when young are absolutely puppy like. We had a pet calf when I was a kid named Softy. My stepmom insisted we buy him and bring him home when we visited a rural county fair because he was so cute. He ended up thinking that he was one of our dogs for a while, even played fetch (poorly heh). Once he got big (and admittedly mean as hell), someone ended up stealing him from his pasture while we were away for the day. Poor Softy.
