It is something you tend to see when you, when you actively use any linux distribution and come across some Canonical stuff.

Anyways, in simple terms: Canonical wants you to believe that Linux would be dead without them. But all users know that they won’t be missed for a second.

Good idea. Recently I started using Bazzite. I was never a huge fan of Fedora, but as a SysAdmin, you have different priorities, which is why I always ended up using Debian or Gentoo, even on the clients.

But for Linux newbies, Fedora Atomic will be awesome!

Even though Ubuntu tends to be easy to use, the company behind it is doing some stupid unnecessary shit, which is proprietary and they believe they always have to invent the wheel themselves instead of contributing/adopting already existing solutions.

Anyways, they are still by miles better than Microsoft, but I bet that they will monetize even heavier, when the market share of Linux rises in the future.

Honestly, this is partially what is gatekeeping Linux. People hate making choices, especially when it is a new world. We should promote one distro with one desktop as the “best linux for Windows users”, ideally immutable with a flatpack store.

And no, fuck Canonical.

Could be worse, seriously. Safari is not a bad browser and WebKit is the only engine since years that can keep up with chromium. I get that it is annoying to have leas freedom on iOS, but I also appreciate the increased security[1] and quality of life that comes with it.

[1] yes, I am aware that open source software tends to be more secure, as it can be reviewed by all. However, Android by default is way less secure than iOS, unless you use GraphiteOS or similar.

Oh, it will not be better, just different. Even in very transparent and democratic countries such as Switzerland, you have those issues, just less extreme.

Things will normalize again after a large scale world war, but only for a couple of decades.

I see what you are saying, but making it news will not fix this issue. They also had 4 years to prosecute Trump and failed. The problem is here, but you cannot fix it by making it news. That’s all I am trying to say. :)

I get it, it is a huge issue and it is very important to document every single case, but justice can only be served after the republicans are gone. Until then, keep the material or send it to an attorney.

2. Those are citizen-initiated petitions. It works a bit different in the EU unfortunately
3. I personally believe that increasing the fee is the best, if you want to destroy democracy. A way better solution to this problem would be to increase the number of signatures needed, or in an EU petition the percentage of yea-sayers.
