Harriet Haller’s Records: For Madwomen Only
“Maya S. Trojan. My estrogen? Get it, get it? … Fuck you shut up then, I think your jokes are stupid too!”
I weave back and forth between silly goose and solarpunk socialist.
I’m just one big ball of fucked up and anxious and that’s OK.

36·7 days agoHastings also was asked about Netflix’s decision to remove an episode of “Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj” in Saudi Arabia after the government threatened the company over a segment in which the comedian criticized Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (aka MBS) and the regime’s role in the murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
“We’re not in the news business,” Hastings said. “We’re not trying to do ‘truth to power.’ We’re trying to entertain… We don’t feel bad about [pulling the ‘Patriot Act’ episode in Saudi Arabia] at all.”

1·10 days agoIts documentation is wonderful.
Unfortunately, reading documentation is often enough of an obstacle that it’s still off-putting to people (which is absolutely silly of course… it’s just reading). Fewer people like to actually read long documentation than we think, which I took as part of the joke here.

88·10 days ago…and is yet more evidence that the old branding was atrocious and they need to drop this childish “tee hee we made a sex joke” about a scene from an overrated movie from the 90s.
I hate this aspect of open source, and the giggling, crass immaturity of a mass number of men within the open source community.

326·10 days agoI wasn’t familiar with paint.net so I went looking and this stood out to me:
It has been compared to other digital photo editing software packages such as Adobe® Photoshop®, Corel® Paint Shop Pro®, Microsoft Photo Editor, and The GIMP.
This is on their main page, in the main description of what paint.net is and what it does. Whatever happened to that fork of GIMP that dropped the fucking atrocious branding.
This right here is an example of why it’s bad, because this chump gets to get away with making a reference to the idea of a sexual “gimp.” It’s been a bad name for a long time now.
I get that rebrands are hard but fuck me, adding the word “The” before it makes it seem so crass and worthless in comparison to the other things in the list which aren’t given skeevy fucking nicknames.
You’re allowing people not directly involved in the project to fucking make it look weird and creepy by keeping the fucking name.
I’m tired.

2·13 days agoIt’s one of the features I love about Njalla for domains the most.
You don’t even need a ddns service because they support updating through simple https calls.
So I have a super tiny script that basically checks the WAN IP through ipify, then checks that against the routers current WAN IP, and if they match it does nothing and ends, but if its different, it sends out a curl with the new IP. I have it running every few minutes in a cronjob. It’s actually technically my service with the most uptime according to healthchecks.io.

Always has been. Richard Stallman is a fucking creepy shitbag, but he was also right about a lot of things regarding software and software freedom.
