I’m asserting that capitalism didn’t do that on its own. The USSR is not a good example of communism, no, but it’s certainly not capitalist, and if they hadn’t provided competition at every step of the space race, beating the US out most of the time, the US wouldn’t have gotten to the moon.

Ah, the Space Race. Something that was famously only participated in by capitalist countries.

I’m not surprised he got his kid out first, I’m surprised he called the cops instead of going back there alone.
I mean, yeah. I’m not a computer person, so five six browsers seems like a lot to just know off hand. I don’t know as many cola brands or Russian Czars without looking them up (I clearly don’t know what a normal comparison would be). People do talk mad shit about Firefox, chrome, opera, brave, safari, and edge though, which have got to make up the vast majority of the browser market.
During the years when Steiner was best known as a literary critic, he published a series of articles attacking various manifestations of antisemitism and criticizing some of the most prominent anti-Semites of the time as “barbaric” and “enemies of culture”.[329][330] In contrast, however, Steiner also promoted full assimilation of the Jewish people into the nations in which they lived, suggesting that Jewish cultural and social life had lost its contemporary relevance[331] and “that Judaism still exists is an error of history”.
This bit feels very reminiscent of the “kill the Indian to save the man” type of racism that led to residential schools. Sure, he may not have thought there was an immutable negative quality associated with race, but he seems to have been a cultural supremacist.
Given that we now know that race isn’t real, I struggle to see the actual difference.
I don’t think it’s really reasonable to expect to get away with it. I mean, with the FBI under its current leadership, maybe, but it still seems like it would be a self sacrifice.
In California it’s 187.
And now I gotta listen to sublime

He died at 47, so he never got to be as old as he looks. He looks pretty similar in age in the above and in the top picture on his Wikipedia entry, and that was taken when he was 35. Hate ages you.

“A bad area of Boston”
Dudes from Lowell.
Edit for context: Lowell is well known for dr. Seuss, an old mill, and a giant folk art festival.

Any worry or anxiety he has is all about helping himself out, nothing to do with the country.
Not disagreeing, but it seems like he’s in some way indebted or beholden to Putin, and I’ll grant that that’s got to be terrifying. Especially given that he’s becoming less and less helpful a person to keep around as his popularity sinks and his influence shrinks.
my parents are MAGA lesbians
Oof, that’s gotta be tough, I’m sorry
But then what?
Is a foreign government going to extradite you for missing paperwork and no outstanding tax debts (especially because everyone else thinks it’s nuts that we require nonresident citizens to file taxes)? I guess it’s possible, but it strikes me as very unlikely.
But if you’re still financially attached to the US/likely to visit, they’ve got some power over you.
I’m not a lawyer or an accountant (obviously. This is not best practices)
You still have to file, but you don’t need to pay taxes unless you’re earning enough that the visa won’t be a problem.
But, like, if you close everything out and never go back…
We currently produce enough food to feed everyone and the international system is capitalist. Does every death from starvation or malnutrition count as a tick against capitalism for you? What about deaths from diabetes in the US? If not, you should look more into how the numbers you’re citing were generated and see if you still want to spread them. If so, you might find that capitalism has killed more than “communism.”
Also, just as a nitpick: 6 million Jews died in the holocaust. 13 million people died altogether (not including war casualties).
I know you feel like we’re on opposite sides here, but I really do just want you to research this a little more, no need to come back afterwards if you don’t want to.
