Fully agree. I’m generally an AI optimist but I don’t understand communicating through AI generated text in any meaningful context - that’s incredibly disrespectful. I don’t even use it at work to talk business with my somewhat large team and I just don’t understand how anyone would appreciate an AI written thank you letter. What a dumb idea.

100% and I’m an early adopter of all decentralized platforms but I still run IT of my all extended family and have a few connections through these platforms so even with my limited use I’m still exposed to so many scams. I can’t imagine what a daily normal user sees, it must be just scam after scam.

It’s always the ones you most suspect huh

Not an american but Isn’t that the entire premise of 2nd amendment? Good guys with guns will defeat bad guys with guns right?

Not that it matters but she seems so nice :(

There are several domains specific search features like duckduckgo bangs that allow you to directly search popular websites with text like interstellar !imdb - it’s super useful! I think firefox has something like this built in too.

They can’t ban all VPN IPs though

Nice but all I want is actually liability. Meta should be hold liable for each and every single scam ad and here in south-east asia it’s just rampant.
I see nothing but blatant scams, especially on Meta platforms. I don’t mean simple e-commerce scams either where you buy some trash and it never gets sent to you - it’s full on phishing and finance scams.
I just dont understand how are we collectively ok with this - every platform should have the burden of full liability, period. If someone gets their money taken through scam ad not only Meta should pay them back but suffer a 100x fine as well. The unskippable ad is nothing compared to this.

I’ve test driven all of the popular models recently and yeah they are nice cars. Hard to tell how well they age though but BYD is establishing a really strong support network to the point where I’d say taking a risk is reasonable. The “air road assist” is quite bad but that’s on par with all current cars tbh.
My only issue is design and interior as it’s so tacky and just not well thought out. One of the main models is literally gym themed lmao

It literally is a harder format. One is literally just numbers and another is a chart. Anyone can read text but everyone needs to learn how to read a chart at least once.

What a dumb take by the teachers. So what if they can’t read some old tech - just teach them? Are the students also incredibly dumb so they can’t learn it in 10 minutes? Seems like that would be bigger issue here.

Very much agree with this argument though it’s not new. IP law has always been a secret weapon against US which is mostly a service economy country.
EU just seems too weak to take advantage of this though

Have you looked into streaming from a desktop? I’m using sunshine/moonlight to stream my video editor from gaming PC to Thinkpad and it works really well! The quality and responsiveness is really good these days to the point where it’s hard to even tell it’s a stream.

This is a common security fallacy as sure you might not drop your laptop like you’re not crashing your car but once you hit something it’s nice to have airbags right? People pay several thousand dollars to recover hard drives of dropped laptops and can you imagine being in such stressful position? So a bit of safety goes a long way.

Weight is definitely old of those things that you only notice when you notice but it’s still just a nice to have rather that critical feature. Like a more ergonomic keyboard etc. Many good parts make a good machine.

You need internals protected from basic shock. Macbooks are notoriously very poor regarding drops while you can play volleyball with a plastic thinkpad.

Hard disagree, macbooks have some of the most unergonomic and awful frame design. The sharp corner alone are just so peak stupidity.
I think people fall for “heavy == quality” falacy way too often here especially since the aluminum frame is actually worse at protecting the internals.

Not sure what you mean by that? Macbooks aren’t good laptops to begin with.
This is not directly on Microsoft as you have to be either ignorant or special kind of stupid to upload your encryption keys to US cloud. The government can request access to any data and a company can’t do anything.
The only way to resist this is to not store anything unencrypted from your customers which is quite doable but clearly microsoft has no interest in this.
