  • New York City has 8.4m people in it; 15% (1.3m) of them are Jewish, making them a key cultural and political group. New York City also has an outsized (if dropping) cultural and political influence on the US.

There are 7.3m Jewish people in Israel, and NYC is the largest population of Jewish people outside Israel, meaning that NYC actions and opinions may have more of an influence within Israel than opinions from elsewhere.

NYC is also seen as a huge, vibrant, peaceful, multicultural city; the longtime headquartering of the United Nations there, the largest financial capital in the world, etc - all give it an emotional and cultural impact.

Here’s the thing: when Americans look at Mamdani’s election, we see a rejection of the current US political parties, a pushback against the oligarchs, late-stage capitalism, and the corruption and fascism of the right. For most of the people (at least on the US center and left) Mamdani’s religion doesn’t factor into much (if anything).

For a certain segment of Jewish Israelis who heavily lean into that identity, the election of a Muslim mayor is a threat, especially one as driven and charismatic as Mamdani. And there’s a political class in Israel who is willing to promote and exploit that fear, in order to gain their own goals, whether that’s increased political power, more money, or simply avoiding going to prison.

  • I’m just going to copy over my comment from a different thread (all the below is that comment):

I was saying weeks ago that this was going to be a bad flu season in the US, because flu cases in China , Japan , Canada and the UK were all skyrocketing.

And three weeks ago WHO said

Although global activity remains within expected seasonal ranges, early increases and higher activity than typical at this time of year have been observed in some regions. […] Since August 2025, there has been a rapid increase of [new variant] viruses detected from several countries

So even if you don’t trust the CDC (and I would argue that you might not be able to trust the heads of CDC and FDA but most of the workers believe in their public health missions), it’s well within plausibility that flu cases are skyrocketing across the US.

  • This is something they’ve weaponized for years: when one of theirs is accused of a crime, they blow up Faux “News” and social media complaining that there’s nothing there, the charges are bogus, etc. In their minds it’s a win-win: if the government pushes back, they get challenged in court (more fodder for the mill about how unfair things are); if they lose the case due to the responses, they can claim it was all fake and politically motivated; and if the government stays silent, they’re able to embed in their followers’ minds that the accused was innocent and it was all political anyway.

Now that they’ve put Faux “News” hosts in charge of everything, they’re pissed they actually have to color within the lines instead of just sneaking smearing shit everywhere.

  • Their official goal is to round up 3000 people per day - which is why they’re going after anyone they can, because “the worst of the worst” have all slipped through their fingers for years and are hard to find so they have to make up those numbers somewhere.

But - they don’t have the capacity to process 3000 people per day and, even if they could, no country is going to accept that many people in a lump, even they are citizens of that country. This was always going to end up with massive amounts of people warehoused somewhere.

Of course, with the need to constantly and massively expand detention facilities (the goal is an extra 3000 people every day!), those detention facilities are going to be hastily built, under-staffed, and under-resourced: not enough beds, blankets, food, clothing, sanitation facilities, medical support, etc. Which is exactly how the Nazis ended up with the conditions in their concentration camps - remember, the camps in Germany were labor camps with extremely poor conditions.

The next step will be companies who can’t hire enough minimum wage people or who want to skip health and safety laws, to hire workers from the camps. This government will accept, because they’ll get kickbacks from the companies and an official-if-cheap wage “paid” to the government to help offset the costs of the camps.

The inmates will be housed in poor conditions: minimal shelter (don’t expect air conditioning or even heating), thin mattresses (if any), thin blankets, minimally nutritional food, no medicine and minimal medical support - pretty much WWII concentration camp conditions. With 3000 people per day, it can’t be any different.

And then the inevitable diseases will rip through the camps, and a bunch of people will die, and the rest will be weaker - no medical care, and minimal food and shelter. But there’ll be another 3000 and another, so the losses won’t be entirely noticable - except in an ever-expanding graveyard. Instead of going to all the trouble of digging and then filling in graves, wouldn’t it be easier just to burn the corpses? It would certainly limit accountability for the losses!

Oh - but what should we do with those who can’t work - the young, the old, the disabled or infirm …

I see that you weren’t locked up and forcibly medicated the other day. Which, considering your current mental state, really seems like it would’ve been the better choice.

I gave you the best advice I had for you in the other thread, and I honestly don’t have time in my life for people who are in denial about their serious mental health issues. I wish you luck, and I’m done seeing your posts. Blocked, and goodbye.
