It doesn’t have custom emoji support, which is one of the reasons Discord even got such a large userbase (a lot of people are paying for nitro only to get the general custom emoji support). Maybe some forks (or whatever the proper term is) do have that, but those seem to be hard to find and even harder to convince anyone to use

Not who you asked, but I still cannot get the Sims 2 ultimate collection to even work, and I’ve been struggling with this since october lmao. The problem seems to be EA trying to force everyone to buy legacy edition thus targeting everyone making UC installable, but I refuse to buy it because not only fuck paying more for a game I’ve owned for twenty years, it also lacks the Ikea pack and bodyshop and I desperately need both. At least Lazy Duchess, the modder responsible for RPC made a patch that gives some of the functionality to legacy as well…

Also, that’s only the first hurdle. There’s like four or five small programs you need to actually play and mod the game properly, and I haven’t even gotten far enough to try to get them to work. I don’t have enough skills to understand running virtual machine stuff either, so it seems like my main rig will be stuck in win10 forever as I will not upgrade it to 11 but I also cannot sacrifice my most played game (there’s also the problem with getting paint tool SAI running that’s keeping me on windows but that’s an entirely different affair, sigh)

Honestly never use any cloud services without encrypting your files, I personally use cryptomator for example. They will all scrape the fuck out of everything, since why wouldn’t they? It’s not like they’ll be caught doing it

Indeed, the basic user experience has been turned to total shit. I never liked win10, but it worked in day-to-day use without any issues, wanna browse web or write some text? Sure thing, no problem. Diving any deeper… ohhh boy. But that has been an issue with all the latest win versions so that’s not really new.

But win11’s been fully, visibly garbage from the start. The forced upgrades from win10 without asking. Lacking simple features that have been part of windows for ages (like moving the task bar and wordpad). There’s unnecessary bugs constantly, like the task bar images randomly changing sizes even during usage, the text on desktop shortcuts being unreadable because the fucker wants to remove shadows and turn the text to match color of the background (instead of having contrast against it), not to mention the goddamn sidebar that you can’t turn off and will randomly jump out. At least you can turn the trash news feed off from it - if you can get around the bug of the settings menu button for it not appearing…

Just the fact that even as a totally basic user you will notice all this crap is completely unacceptable. I’d switch all my systems to linux in a blink but infuriatingly I’m stuck for now.

With RPC the problem is legacy edition itself; the mod doesn’t work with it (and legacy edition doesn’t have bodyshop, it’s not a mod but part of the old game; unless someone finally has found a way around that). What I’m trying to run is the ultimate collection, because both of those are quite essential. I know it is possible to get it working, but I just haven’t found a way yet…

Tried both already, neither is still working. With SAI the problem seems to be the tablet drivers as I can get even pressure sensitivity working, but no matter what I try the cursor is offset like crazy; I think the problem is the tablet drivers and I can get as far as installing opentabletdriver, but since I have integrated touch screen display on this laptop, I haven’t figured out how to turn the old drivers off. Every other drawing program seems to work though, just not SAI… The other computer where I’m stuck with win11 is surface pro though, so chances off getting anything working on that with linux are even lower. Ironically not even win11 runs propely on it, microsoft has no excuses!

With sims 2 the problem is every link through Lutris is dead already, and I haven’t found anything working through the internet archive either. I know I could get the game itself running by buying it the legacy edition through steam, but that doesn’t have the ikea collection (and I would have to go through 20 years of mods individually to weed out the ones using stuff from ikea pack), I wouldn’t get RPC and it doesn’t even support bodyshop. I mean I probably can’t get bodyshop running on linux anyway, but I haven’t gotten far enough to worry about that yet
