All of this is happening in the most armed country in the world and there has yet been a single major incident where people have been shot by activists, as far as I’m aware. No Kyle Rittenhouse style incident, no crazed lone gun man shooting ICE officers, no tense standoffs between police and armed demonstrators gone awry.

Being on the receiving end of the opposition to Trump is safer than attending an American school.

It’s not that you should be going in to the streets killing people at random. Violence should be avoided if possible. But it’s odd that things are so peaceful in such a violent country. There is no smoke, thus it’s hard to believe there’s a fire.

If Trump feared the opposition, there would be mass arrests on bogus domestic terrorism charges – violence or not.

They sure have a lot to learn!

I run Debian, super happy with it (also have tried Ubuntu and Steam OS/Arch, liking both). As a noob, what would/could I expect gain by distro hopping?

I have a pretty dissimilar resume but have perhaps had somewhat similar challenges.

I too have distinct specialties that should, in theory, be desirable in many different roles. But to get any attention at all from employers, I had to take a lot of things off my resume to make it look less ”complicated”. This included removing things that I considered relevant experience for the position, but not explicitly asked for. It also involved scrapping half of my education background for a lot of positions.

Shit fucking sucks and are unfair. But I was just recently able to get a job that I’m happy with and so will you too, soon.

As a European it has been interesting over the last decade to see a whole new family of predatory dark patterns emerge after the implementation of GDPR. The regulation that was intended to safeguard privacy, to a large extent is underwriting companies defaulting to spying on you for no gain to yourself. It’s an uphill battle.
