I am curious what you mean by everything is a file… What else would it be?

And how would I pipe the output from your GUI tool into another GUI tool?

11·2 days agoI would rather lower the specs of my network than rent anything from them. If in 2035 I can only afford a raspberry pi 7, so be it.
Like freedom, and yet like the guy ordering door to door searches?

Eat the invasive species! At least when its safe to do so. Shame that shore crabs are not invasive where I live because I can catch them pretty efficiently. At least they are plentiful enough that they don’t even need to bother with setting catch limits.

3·17 days agoPretty sure its the asteroid belt, not planetary rings, that you don’t really need to think about when passing through.
And yeah, it shouldn’t be too hard and yet look at all the junk already up there. Hopefully they can just be required to keep to very low orbits that decay rapidly.

61·17 days agoAnd how much space junk will end up there? Cleaning up afterwards costs more money and long term thinking isn’t something shareholders care about over more profit today.
The tech is interesting, hopefully governments across the entire planet regulate it well enough. Although at the same time, its not like we really need to care either. In our lifetime its not like any of us are likely to be able to afford to go to space anyway, but it would probably be a good idea not to ruin it if we have a choice.
Depends on what the essay was about, something boring? Yes. Something interesting? No.
How much of this is good income and how much is lower cost of living? Housing is by far my largest expense compared to everything else combined, and mostly because there isn’t much you can legally live in that costs less.
We have an AI tool that is apparently supposed to improve the tone of voice and shorten messages. It turns my short sentence into a paragraph with a bunch of pointless extra words.
Don’t use word then, it’s so shit.

111·18 days agoEvery SIM I have seen is free or close to it, unless you are buying it as part of a bundle where the SIM is usually free and its the stuff bundled with it, like data, that costs money.

2·23 days agoYeah, I suspect I have a fair few games that could run in it but ARM doesn’t help for anything closed source stuff.
An N150 mini PC don’t cost that much more once you consider that it comes with storage as well, not looked since RAM went silly though.

4·23 days agoBeen thinking of getting an N150 mini PC sometime. Stick proxmox on it and pihole. Probably a web server and host media on it too.
Not sure how well it would run dwarf fortress in a VM, play over SSH. Otherwise there is still CDDA.

10·23 days agoThat is an increasingly high risk I can see, PCs just no longer exist.
Risky if that is illegal though which is increasingly likely in authoritarian countries like the UK.

Yeah I saw that and it felt the arrow was the wrong way around too.
