I’ve read about this guy before. He’s got an amusing variety of methods. Squatters ruin homes, sometimes destroying them entirely. House across the street from me burned this morning because of squatters who kept breaking in. Someone would have saved the house eventually, now it’ll be a parking lot. Who is helped by that?

While I don’t think Trump is above infanticide, I can’t imagine him hanging around with a full-term pregnant person, OR being around when a baby’s body was disposed of - he doesn’t have the attention span, and it’s not his scene or style. He was there to fuck the girls, not look after them or cover evidence or anything like that. I don’t even think he’s particularly sadistic to people in person (although to people who are abstractions to him, yes), just narcissistic vapid shallow disgusting and banally evil. He likely believes all the girls he raped genuinely enjoyed being with him.

We know some of the effects, like endocrine and cellular disruption, which should be damning enough but the media likes to make it sound like microplastics may not be bad, people are being alarmist, etc. Because the media is owned by people who would be negatively affected by a plastic ban. Much like how we know tire and brake dust is a cause of autism, but no one is willing to put that in a headline.

People are making fun of me because I’m going out of my way to avoid plastics. “You’ve already been exposed to decades worth” and “You’ll never avoid it all” and a bunch of other logical fallacies borne out of good old fashioned defeatism.

Crinkly thin water bottles are the worst, as are bottles that have been exposed to UV light, so if you HAVE to use bottled water try and find thick PET bottles and keep them out of the sun.

It’s funny how as adults we become interested in elements of stuff we were taught and found boring before. But I’m not sure how you’d teach science without “shoving it down people’s throats” because most teenagers simply don’t give a shit about any of it, so pretty much anything you teach will be shoving it down someone’s throat. The better solution would be explaining why electron structure is important foundational stuff. About 98% of the time, in HS, they didn’t explain why we needed to know it, how it would be contextualized in later life - it was simply “learn this so you can pass next week’s test.” And for me, knowing why is crucial to me caring enough to learn.

We finally got Aldis around here and I was so disappointed. It’s Trader Joe’s with slightly more stuff, and a stupid checkout/bagging process. I can’t get many of my weekly necessities there, so no I’m not going grocery shopping twice a week to save a few bucks, same as TJ’s. They didn’t have chocolate milk when I was there. The hell?

If I can’t skip a video ad, and I really want to see the content, I simply make note of the advertiser and never buy anything from them.

I was living in a 10th story penthouse apartment as a new building started beside us. The contractor put a webcam high up on the structure so people could watch construction live on a website. They left the control panel fully exposed so all you had to do was find the IP address of the camera and boom, you had full control. I would point it directly at my apartment’s window and wave, or my friends would do silly shit. Every morning the cam would be reset, but they never actually secured it. That’s when I realized how fucked we were, 20 years ago.
