Yeah, if you actually defend yourself they quickly back off. Same with goose that so many people are afraid of. Just grab them by the neck and yeet them away. If they don’t back off, grab them by the neck again and choke them.

And with roosters a firm (but not too strong) kick to the chest is enough. If that doesn’t work grab them and press them to the ground.

  • I’m pretty sure the analog ones are the exception, not the rule.

That is correct, and at least part of the reason for that is that most notebooks, and even many smartphones, don’t support them. DACs are so incredibly cheap nowadays that it costs the manufacturer less to put one in the adapter, than to deal with the cost of half their customers returning the adapter because it doesn’t work with their device.

  • It’s a broadcast of one’s own biases to consider either of these terms more ‘valid’ than the other.

You seem to misunderstand. No one is saying one term is more valid than the other. They are different words meant to describe different people.

A person that doesn’t want children, and doesn’t have any, is considered childfree.

A person that wants children, but doesn’t have any, is considered childless.

Since these parents are trying to convince their children to have kids, said children are clearly childfree, not childless. A childless person that wants children wouldn’t need convincing

  • If an 8-inch screen is enough for you, then I recommend either the Pocketbook Inkpad 4, or the Pocketbook Color 3 if you want color. They run Linux and have a very capable PDF Reader (especially compared to Kindles)

If you want an even bigger screen then sadly they start to get very expensive, and usually ship with an already outdated version of Android and an underpowered SOC. And they also have the terrible standby battery life you would expect from an Android device

  • Yeah, I meant unlike with Linux you can’t change certain core functionality of your OS. Stuff like just entirely replacing the window manager for a different one. You can do a lot of powerful stuff with kernel extensions, but even those are limited (and apple made it a lot more complicated to install kernel extensions on Apple Silicon compared to how it worked on Intel Macs)

  • Mac isn’t really a walled garden in the sense iOS is without jailbreak. You can install unsigned code out of the box, have similar Admin privileges as on windows (but not as powerful as a superuser on Linux), and it integrates very well into an otherwise non-Apple household. You can use quickshare with android phones or windows PCs instead of using apple airdrop for example, which is something iOS users can only dream of

I prefer hackintosh over Linux on my Thinkpad, even though battery life is slightly worse (but still way better than it was out of the box with windows)
