Funny story, in that week between Biden dropping out and Harris getting the nomination, in a Lemmy thread wondering who other than Harris could be a decent presidential nominee, I mentioned Walz. I got a lot of “who?” and people commenting that he really didn’t have the name recognition to carry the ticket with that short of a time frame.
Nah. I’m a former Cast Member and I’ve spent some time injured on Disney’s dime in a much lower stakes version of this. If they’re able to sit upright they’ll be given seated light duty tasks like putting hangers on clothing and gluing popsicle sticks on Olaf butts to make fans for the guests. It’s honestly the best workers comp experience I’ve ever had, they’ve got on property doctors who are actually pretty good and if you get injured after their office closes they’ve got a deal with an off property urgent care who sucked but I had zero paperwork to deal with. Also if I didn’t have a five star workers comp experience, the union would have had something to say about it - Cast Members are unionised.
Edit: not to say Disney doesn’t suck, I absolutely have horror stories and everyone who has worked for them does, but their workers comp process was actually pretty great.
Dentistry is one of the few professions that leaves you the free time and money needed to get into cycling as a midlife crisis and the stereotype is that a lot of MAMILs (middle aged man in Lycra) are dentists.

There were a lot of people who voted for AOC and Trump. AOC went out and talked to some of them, I think she posted video of some of those conversations but she talked about it a bit on social media and iirc a big refrain was it was working class uneducated people who wanted change and something other than the status quo and felt that both Trump and AOC were both something other than the status quo. Well, they were right, in an awful way.
