    Two years vanished because he trusted a single source with all his data, and didn’t bother to back it up or replicate it anywhere.

    He could’ve easily copied it all as he went into a notebook app like OneNote, Joplin, etc, or even just into word documents (which he should’ve been doing from a structural/organizational/clarity/footnotes perspective anyway).

    This is what I do with a chat that has produced meaningful results - Immediately copy it into the appropriate section in OneNote.

    He has no one to blame but himself.

    Well, now you know?!

    (And by the way, don’t 100% rely on cloud services. Your account might get flagged for “suspicious activity”, or some other thing goes wrong and then your Google Drive is gone. Can happen any day, even without clicking on random things to see what it does. And if you do rely on suppliers for work, pick a good company. And have a (paid) contract which includes service and backups.)
