Both work servers, my private server, and a handful of colleagues running the same setups, on various hosts…
Yes, I agree it is anecdotal evidences. But seriously, people going around saying “it’s impossible, you have to pay them for delivery to work” is not only disingenuous, it’s factually wrong.
Are you all on OVH, then? Maybe my IP is the just the problem. Or do you all perhaps have older domains? Did you do any IP warming? I’d love to know. The openness of email is important.
(And fwiw, I’m not the same person as who implied you’d have to pay. In fact, I’ve never heard of that before)
Yes, me and $job are on OVH, moved the servers twice, so basically had moved over 6 IPs. Colleagues running on different providers though; Scaleway/Online mostly. I experimented a bit with hosting everything at home, which worked fine at the time for mail reception and delivery, but had to give up on it because it wasn’t very stable (I had hilarious smokeping at the time).
And, I’m just tired of the whole “you can’t host your mails” thing. It’s not all perfect, but on the rare occasion someone (usually a third party service selling both a blocking list AND an unblocking service…) flagged us, it was resolved in a day, with a single contact email. It happened twice in the last few years.
