Explanation: Rhodesia was a small white-dominated state next to South Africa. It ran a horrific apartheid regime wherein some 95% of the population was Black and yet deprived of almost all civil rights for the crime of… not being white. It was eventually absorbed into Zimbabwe after a 10+ year war.
Rhodesia commonly gets glazed by the far-right who use their (temporary) military successes and operational aggressiveness as some form of proof of the superiority of white people, instead of the effect of desperation of a privileged caste being hypermilitarized out of fear that they’ll be treated the way they treated the oppressed. And also support from the larger economy of apartheid-era South Africa.
Unfortunately, they also suck in some otherwise unrelated surface-level militaria enjoyers into this with apologia about how Rhodesia ‘wasn’t that bad’, so it’s okay to enjoy the military short-shorts and FN-FALs.
The end of Rhodesia did tank agriculture and create 1000x inflation.

Mugabe tanked agriculture and created inflation. That’s not the same as ‘the end of Rhodesia’ causing that, especially considering such hyperinflation and agricultural ruin didn’t occur for another ~20 years.
It hits me a bit that it’s the younger man in the picture saying this. Extra layer of reality to this meme.
Based father.
