    Explanation: Stalin, the effective autocrat of the Soviet Union after Trotsky’s expulsion and Lenin’s death, made sure to murder most of his old Bolshevik revolutionary-era comrades so he wouldn’t have any ‘legitimate’ opposition. If you’re the only major figure who was actually part of the revolution left, who’s going to challenge you?

    He also murdered a large number of peasants, ‘kulaks’, who were deemed ‘too rich’ on nebulous and poorly defined grounds.

    He also gave the green light for an experiment with… anti-tank suicide bomber dogs. Though the start of the initiative actually predates him.

    They, uh… they were not very useful. And also, they fucking died.

      As in they were trained to run under tanks and trigger an explosive charge, but the Soviets trained them on their own tanks. It was a horrifically stupid idea all the way through.
