Resort fees, I think, are usually a tax by the municipality. Not a hotel addon. However hotels have tons of fees so I may be mixing them up.Nvmd someone further down made the same switch

You’re saying “in 2025” and then listing a bunch of things that have been that way since the 40s at least.
That’s how certificate expirations work, though. You have to get it through a different path. And for most users letting the system update automatically is fine. They aren’t waiting with bated breath on their Winget to work…if they even know what Winget is.
Personally I view Winget as a mediocre me-too feature that wasn’t really needed. Almost every program updates itself on windows just fine. And I know it’s coming from the vendor, not a rando, a big improvement over a lot of Linux packages (esp flatpak seemingly)
Sounds like it autoupdates automatically, of all the things to shit on windows for this seems a little dumb. The fix is to wait a few hours or manually download an update package, hardly the end of the world.

And those companies’ policies cascade out because of the incestuous nature of company boards. Some dumbass who is C__ at one company and member of the board at another says you gotta do the same to be compliant and since it’s all theater they comply rather than push back. Corporations are dumb.
